“Factory Girl Leads a Tour of the Lowell Mills”
The Factory girl takes us into a journey of her day to day life in the operations of she resigns. She describes the first room to be damp as if the room is full of moisture. She states it is used for cleaning cloth and machines for scrubbing and scouring are full of operations. The second room, cloths are taken into the next step of the process. The operations in the second room consist of hurling, shearing, brushing pressing and packaging. Males and females are assigned different roles in this room. The third room, the cloths are woven into something what she describes as fancy, part of the dressing is also done here. The fourth room “broad-weaving” is done here. The next room she claims the spinning is done here.
Throughout this Journey that the girl takes us shows us the intense labor people back in the 1800s
